SuperTrapp’s new Honda VTX 1800 SuperMeg is capable of adding up to 17-horsepower over a stock exhaust and features 4-inch external discs and a 2.5-inch collector to maximize flow.

uperTrapp isn’t wasting any time. As you’re reading this there are new applications for the super-hot IDSX performance exhausts heading to the warehouses, there’s a brand-new XD Race Pipe for the Honda TRX450R with more applications on the way, there’s a new 2-into-1 system for the big Honda VTX 1800 cruiser and if all that isn’t enough, a legendary tuner has just joined the SuperTrapp R&D team bringing 30-plus years of race-winning experience with him. Put all that together and it’s clear SuperTrapp’s going to make 2005 pretty interesting, no matter what area of motosport you’re shopping.
You can start with those new ATV systems. There are four new applications for the already popular lineup of IDSX performance exhausts. New for 2005 are full systems and slip-ons for the Yamaha Rhino 660, a slip-on for the Kawasaki Brute Force and there’s a Universal slip-on, too. These lightweight and off-road tough exhausts are designed specifically for big bore quads. Packed with SuperTrapp’s diffuser-disc system they’re completely tunable, too. They’ll deliver all the low-end torque needed for blasting through the mud bogs and sand dunes or climbing the steepest hills – and do it with a near-stock sound level – and then when there’s a need for top-end horsepower that’s there, too. SuperTrapp’s adjustable disc system allows the IDSX to be perfectly tuned to the job at hand; simply adding or subtracting discs puts the horsepower, torque and sound right where you want it. This is one exhaust that does it all, and the IDSX’s internal-discs keep mud from clogging the system when the going gets sloppy. It functions as a U.S.F.S.-approved spark arrestor, too, and an extended turndown outlet directs the exhaust away from machine. It’s all stainless steel construction, including the canister, head pipe and the core. The new Yamaha 660 Rhino IDSX slip-on carries Part Number 835-4662 and a $350 suggested retail, the 660 Rhino full system is #835-4664 with a $475 retail, the new Kawasaki Brute Force slip-on is #835-6750 at $350 and that IDSX Universal slip-on, #835-8175, retails for $335.
SuperTrapp’s got something new for the racing ATVs, too. The XD Race Pipe is new this year, and the first application is for the Honda TRX450R. The XD Race Pipe is all business. It’s a 4-in. race muffler featuring SuperTrapp’s performance proven external disc system, and it significantly improves exhaust flow and increases peak horsepower. The XD Race Pipe is completely tunable, too, and this race-ready system comes with a brushed aluminum canister, a durable steel core and high-tech packing material. Tom Carlson, the engine builder at TC Racing and a 20-year veteran of ATV racing is already sold on the XD. “Pipes are more important than ever,” he says. “When you’re racing a production ATV the exhaust system accounts for 60-percent of any horsepower boost a performance shop can find. There are only a few systems that give you a significant boost in performance and SuperTrapp is one of them.” The XD Race Pipe slip-on for the Honda TRX450R comes with Part Number 813-3450 and a retail price of $299. There will be more applications for the XD Race Pipe later in the year, too.
Moving onto the street, SuperTrapp’s just expanded the 2-into-1 SuperMeg Series to include the Honda VTX 1800. SuperMeg 2-into-1 systems have been performance proven in dyno shootouts and on racetracks all over the country. Many feel these systems are the best-performing exhausts you can put on a V-twin. They can add up to 17-horsepower over a stock exhaust. SuperMegs feature SuperTrapp’s tunable disc technology, 4-in. external discs here, and the SuperMegs also have a 2.5-in. collector to maximize flow for even the largest big-bore motor. Wes Brown, AMI Horsepower Shootout winner eight years running, says, “SuperTrapp’s tunable discs make it easy to find that sweet spot once the motor work is done. You won’t be leaving any horsepower on the table.” And the SuperMegs look good. They’re triple chrome plated mild steel, there’s a distinctive polished billet end cap and triple chrome plated heat shields are standard, including one for the collector. The new Honda VTX 1800 SuperMeg is listed under Part No. 828-31800 and retails for $595.
Count on SuperTrapp’s V-twin performance getting even better, too. Bill Werner, the most successful tuner in AMA Grand National racing history, is now collaborating with SuperTrapp to design and develop race and performance-street exhaust systems. “I’ve used SuperTrapp products for years,” Werner says. “I’ve always been impressed with the quality and performance gains, and over the years I’ve made plenty of small modifications to the systems to make them even better.” Now he’ll be adding those modifications right into the product line, broadening the performance range and making those SuperTrapps even more user friendly.
Keep your eye on SuperTrapp. With those new IDSX systems for the ATVs, new performance exhausts for race-quads, that new VTX 1800 SuperMeg system and Bill Werner now on board, 2005 is going to be an interesting year thanks to these guys in Ohio. Of course Parts Unlimited carries it all. Call your rep today for more details.
