The Z1R Duke is an affordably priced, Snell 2000 helmet that comes in a variety of colors and graphics. What’s not to like?

ull-face helmets are a tough sell to the Harley crowd, or so goes conventional thinking. Harley riders wear half-helmets or open-face models, right? Well, that might have been true once, but not anymore. Plenty of folks are riding their bikes for more than pleasure these days. With rising fuel prices just one of the reasons, motorcycles—Harley-Davidsons included—have become regular transportation. Guys are riding their bikes to work on a routine basis, and that daily commute goes a lot easier with full-face coverage, not only for protection but also for added warmth and a quiet ride. And as the weather changes, a full-face helmet becomes a must.
All that makes the Z1R Duke easier then ever to sell, especially to a Harley rider. The Duke is a premium helmet at a budget price, and it comes with a whole host of features normally found on helmets costing two and three times as much. The Duke comes in plain, bold colors Harley riders relate to, and better yet, all the marker decals can be removed for a clean, stealth look. The Duke’s distinctive shape and longer neck ring extending below the shell, along with its plush, padded interior, make this one of the most comfortable helmets on the market, and set up with either a Silver or Gold Mirror Shield it looks really cool.
Check out some of the Duke’s other features. There’s an advanced fiberglass composite shell, an extremely lightweight design. There’s an extra large 144mm eyeport for a great range of vision, and the Duke uses a quick-change shield release for fast, easy shield changes. Those shields have a UV-resistant silicone coating, too. And there’s plenty of ventilation. There are adjustable forehead vents with dual rear exhausts, and adjustable chin venting directs fresh air toward the inside of the shield to prevent fogging. The Duke’s specially formulated ear pockets are extra-comfortable and can accept helmet speakers, and for real safety there’s a dual density styrene liner, something normally found only in more expensive helmets. All of this is Snell 2000 and DOT certified, and the retail is just $144.95 for Graphic Finishes, Metallic Solids, Silver, or Wine and the price drops to $134.95 for Black or White solids. Also check out the new Rubatone Duke. It’s an all-black rubberized finish that’s better than regular flat paint, has a luxurious feel, won’t finger print and is less likely to scratch or get shiny. It’s an easy soap and water clean up, too. Perfect for the Harley market.
With the rising gas prices we’re all facing, it makes good sense to ride a bike, and with all that increased riding—especially in rush hour commutes—it also makes good sense to wear a full-face helmet. The Z1R Duke fits the bill. It’s lightweight, comfortable, well ventilated, offers plenty of vision, it’s got that dual-density liner for safety, and it looks great. And all of that comes for less than a hundred and fifty bucks, lots less in solid Black or White. Full-face helmets a hard sell to Harley riders? Not anymore!
