t’s
both good for business and an occupational hazard that the summer fever for
bike buying and customizing is as easy to catch as a winter cold in a Chicago
airport.
I guess I’m pretty susceptible—with the first warm wind of spring
comes exposure to another dose. And after a few fast months of traveling to
rallies in my new role as national sales manger for Drag Specialties blew right
by, I was off to the urgent care center (a.k.a motorcycle retailer) for the
only known treatment.
As we know, there is no cure.
In this case, I sought the care of Harley-Davidson of Youngstown in eastern
Ohio. And my thanks to owner Tom Wronkovich, sales manager Keith McCowin and
the rest of the fine “healthcare” professionals who made the medicine
go down easy. Tom and Keith and the rest of the “Y-town” crew made
the purchase a pleasure, let alone painless.
Now, it’s ongoing “medication” that’s needed—a
healthy prescription of aftermarket parts and accessories from the FatBook.
When I’m not out in the field visiting dealers and seeing to our hospitality
efforts at the rallies and races Drag Specialties sponsors and attends, I’m
at the office combing through sales reports that track page after page of product
found in our catalog—and also, I’d point out, in our warehouses
and ready to ship. But as might be the case with most of us, the line between
work and play (and purchase) can get a little blurry as I try to pick from
the many accessories I’d like to fit to my new FLHTC/I.
I really like the sales numbers showing on the computer screen, but it’s
also really hard to stop flipping through all those glossy pictures of parts
in the Drag catalog open on the other side of the desk.
A Rinehart Exhaust by Bub will alleviate what ails the stock sound. I like
horsepower and flash in equal quantities, and the performance pedigree of big-time
racing—and these pipes offer stiff doses of all three. Besides, Gerald
would never stop chewing on me if anything else was installed. This is about
healthcare, not extra abrasions!
