hen a dealer talks Parts Unlimited listens, and the Memphis Shades Windshield Sizing Guide is the perfect example. Phil Boucher, at Motorcycle Accessory Centre in Calgary, Alberta, came up with the idea for this handy sales tool. He explained what he had in mind to the folks at Memphis Shades, and as quick as the blink of an eye that sizing guide was developed, delivered and put in the catalog.      Phil’s idea was nothing less than ingenious. Realizing he was spending way too much time showing windshield customers everything available in the Memphis Shades lineup, running back and forth from the stockroom with all the all sizes, heights, widths and shapes as he helped a customer make up his mind, Phil told Memphis Shades about his notion to streamline that process. What was needed, Phil reasoned, was a universal sizing guide. One windshield with the templates of all the others clearly marked. If he had that he could simply hold it in position on a customer’s bike and, voila!, that customer would immediately see the windshield size and shape he wanted. One trip to the stockroom could complete the sale.
     Phil’s sizing guide is simplicity itself. Memphis Shades took the biggest windshield they make, a 21-inch Memphis Fats, and then overlaid the router programs for all the others on that one windshield. All the sizes and styles are clearly engraved. Combine the Windshield Sizing Guide with the Memphis Shades Color Fan (P/N MEMFAN), a hand-held rainbow of actual color samples, and that customer will know the tint he wants, too.
     “We use the Windshield Sizing Guide and Color Fan all the time now,” Phil says. “I don’t know how we got by without it!” You won’t either.
