thing to do. Sure is fun, though. And that’s what this Icon Bling
Gear is all about—fun.Why is it that some people seem to think bike-riding apparel and protective gear has to follow some sort of logical guideline? The Bling Glove and Jacket, sporting genuine 24 kt. gold, sure doesn’t. Two of the most protective pieces of riding gear you’re likely to find anywhere, they’re completely illogical. And they’re great! Take that Bling Glove. Over a background color of blue or black, it’s loaded with gold. Genuine gold. There are 13 solid copper plates riveted onto each of these gloves, and each one is plated with 24 kt. gold. There are something like 100 stainless steel rivets on the glove, too, also plated with 24 kt. gold. Does it make any sense? Of course not. Is it popular? You won’t be able to keep ’em in the store, and they’re not cheap. These gloves retail for $250. There’s also a less-expensive short-cuff version, with nine gold-plated copper plates that sells for $200. Who’s the customer here? That’s easy. Look out over your counter and count the hip-hop MTV’ers in the showroom. That market’s huge, and it’s a market that’s all about style. Need somebody to explain “bling” to you? Ask one of your twenty-something customers—and then show him this glove. He’ll be digging for his wallet in a flash. And don’t leave things there. The Bling Jacket completes the scene. As incredible as those gloves are, this jacket doesn’t miss a beat, either. Icon’s put a whole new twist on its incredibly hip Neo-Daytona jacket to come up with this eye-popper. Now, who walks into a motorcycle shop asking for gold jacket? No one, right? Well, that’s changed. Once those riders of a certain age get an eyeful of this one they’ll have to have it, at $425 retail. Gotta out-bling your buddy, and this jacket – especially when combined with the Bling Glove, will definitely do that. Like the gloves, the jackets are available in two color combinations: gold leather combined with blue, or gold combined with black. As wild as it looks, the Bling Jacket—just like the glove—is plenty functional, too. Beginning with Icon’s exclusive straight-cut fit, it’s all premium-quality drum-dyed cowhide leather, there are removable CE-approved armor pads in the elbows and shoulders, there’s a padded neck roll collar with a snap, two-position snap adjusters at the waist, a zippered cell phone breast pocket, and there’s super-visible reflective piping everywhere. And it looks so cool! Any of this make sense? Of course not—unless you want to see that cash register sing.
