arts Unlimited rolled out an all-new product line at the Indy Show, the AMS Tire brand. As an already well-stocked selection of different models and applications by now numbers ten ATV fitments with many more to come, the AMS line-up of sizes and selections will soon be more familiar to both retailers and consumers.
If you took part in the new brand introduction at the Indy Show, you may have already noted the aggressive design of several of these offerings, and should also have seen the hot patch designs that will help to firmly situate the brand identity of each model.
The commitment of Parts Unlimited to the newly introduced AMS product line for ATVs and dirt bikes is evident in the rapid introduction of new models and sizes, and will also be readily apparent to well-read consumers as an aggressive print advertising campaign continues.
With several of the other top-selling tire manufacturers sometimes slow to meet the demand of the still-burgeoning ATV aftermarket, here’s an overview of the AMS line and how you can profit from the advantages of these new tires—and how each current model fits amongst the existing offerings of competing brands:

The Fox A/T is an OEM-like general-purpose tire. With only mildly aggressive tread perfect for utility needs short of maximum traction, the unique V-shaped pattern offers excellent straight-line agility with minimum turf damage.
This is a lightweight radial ply design, with its natural rubber compound offering superior puncture resistance along with a smooth ride. A good choice for youth-oriented ATVs, this tire is comparable to the following models from competing brands:

AMS Fox A/T
Cheng Shin C-829
Dunlop KT-465, KT-755, KT-765, KT-885
Goodyear Compass
Carlisle Knobby
Duro HF-240/240A
Kenda K-290
Nankang D-401/N-688/N-700

The Zipper is another OEM-like tire perfect for snow or sand applications, with a unique design that allows reversal of rotation for increased traction in a wide range of conditions. The natural rubber two-ply casing reduces unsprung weight to increase flotation while offering a smooth ride. The natural rubber construction offers four-fold advantage here: The compound runs cooler in the desert and stays flexible in snow to offer increased puncture protection in either climate—and the casing expands at high speed for added traction and stability. The Zipper is comparable to the following models from competing brands:

AMS Zipper
Ohtsu Pro Wedge
Maxxis 4-Snow

The Blackwidow is a more aggressive tire suitable to general off-road riding in a variety of conditions. Its open and aggressive lugs offer reliable traction and excellent self-cleaning characteristics while an overlapping centerline bar provides a smooth ride at speed with improved handling.
This is a thick four-ply casing that offers superior puncture and tear resistance even while its natural rubber compound provides a high degree of ride compliance. The Blackwidow compares to the following models from competing brands:

AMS Blackwidow
Cheng Shin C-828/C-867/C-868 Jackle
Goodyear Mud Runner
Duro HF-243
GBC Mud Buster
Kenda K-299
Titan Sabre Tooth
ITP Spider Trac

An even more aggressive choice is the Swamp Fox, designed for superior traction in mud and snow. The computer-enhanced tread pattern offers stability that allows hard-pack usage even while its dimpled and reinforced lugs give more biting edges for exceptional grip. Note that the tread pattern runs around the shoulder of the tire to add bite in deep mud, sand and snow.
This is an extremely rugged six-ply tire that offers maximum durability. Here, the sales feature of the natural rubber construction is how the lighter compound allows such a large and aggressive tire to also be more forgiving on the machine’s drivetrain. This tire model also has the largest number of different sizes available, and compares to the following models from competing brands:

Swamp Fox
Dunlop KT-121/KT-125
Goodyear Tracker P
Maxxis Mud Bug/Sur Trak
ITP Mud Lite/AT 489/589
GBC Dirt Devil
Titan 489 XT & 589 MT

n the sport market, AMS is currently offering choices aimed at sand and dunes use. The marketing slogan from the brochure says “The new standard in sand” and for dealerships and shops in areas that serve this specific market, the new AMS line should be a fast mover.
There are three rear and three front choices, and one of the primary differences is that in each case one model is specific to side.
The DiamondTrak front and the Sidewinder rear models are both designed to be run as distinct left-hand and right-hand fitment. The DiamondTrak is designed for exceptionally precise steering in the sand, with its lightweight wide-body design offering superior flotation, while the similar Blacktail front has a centered rib for a uniform center and is interchangeable to either side of the machine.
The Sidewinder features an offset V-blade with eight deep paddles extending from shoulder to shoulder for improved side-hill control. The Aerospeed is also a deep eight-paddle design, but with a unique shoulder to shoulder V-blade that reduces the need for separate left and right offset paddles.

The following brand and model comparisons should be considered in reference to these models:

The Whipsnake and Sand Snake form a more traditional sand-oriented front and rear combination. The front Whipsnake is an extremely light ribless two-ply design, and the eight-bladed Sand Snake features a lightweight casing (along with its straight shoulder to shoulder paddle design) that reduces unsprung weight better than other overmolded tires, and is excellent for four-stroke and smaller ATVs.
These tires are directly comparable to:

AMS also offers sand paddle tires for the two-wheeled market. The Sand Snake motocross front is available in six, eight and ten paddle configurations and all offer increased straight-line performance and stability. The Sand Snake front has a specially designed arrow-shaped center to improve steering and stability, with inverted cones in the shoulder area improving cornering grip even in mixed terrain.
These tires are directly comparable to:

As you can see, AMS Tires has a design for just about every ATV application—and there are more to come. All of these are ready to ship, so contact your Parts rep today. These AMS Tires are ready and waiting.
