f your ATV customers are seeking even more versatility from their four-wheelers, then Moose M.U.D. might have the solution. It’s the new Quick Release System, a cargo-carrying design that lets ATV riders quickly attach or remove racks and accessories (see sidebar) from their ATVs in seconds.
     The secret to the Quick Release System is a mounting system that closely resembles the detachable trailer hitch receiver heads that you see on pickup trucks and SUVs. M.U.D.’s Quick Release System for ATVs actually has two receiver heads that are locked using a pair of slip-pins to secure the adjoining pieces of heavy-gauge one-inch square steel tubing into place. Simply release the slip-pins from their holes and the mounting system readily detaches from the ATV. It’s that easy.
     The standard two-mount system comes affixed to either the EZ Load Drop Rack or the more conventional Drop Rack, so there is no special fabrication required other than bolting the two main receiver heads onto the ATV. Once they are in place, it takes only seconds to mount the racks to the ATV. The racks have solid frames with strong mesh screen, so they can carry quite a bit of cargo. The EZ Load Drop Rack, with its lockable tailgate, is especially handy for carrying heavy objects because it gives easy access to the cargo area itself.
     The mounting system is sold separately, too, and M.U.D. offers other accessories for the system as well. Outdoorsmen will find either the Gun Case Holder or Universal Gun Rack handy during hunting season, and when frost is in the air you can attach the Ice Auger Holder for ice fishing season.
