might have already seen the ads. Parts Unlimited has just rolled out a
whole new line of ATV/Motocross tires, announcing it with splashy, four-page
spreads in all the consumer magazines. The new AMS tire line deserves
all that, too. Premium tires coming at a budget price, AMS covers it all.
We’re talking ten new technically advanced styles of ATV tires—everything
from all-season tires to mud tires, to sand tires, to high-speed designs,
to maximum-traction utility models. There are a couple of motocross tires
in the AMS brand, too, with more to come.Keeping all those tires straight, as to which is which and what each one does best, is easy. The AMS model names are unforgettable. The “Swamp Fox,” for example, is an all-terrain/all-season specialist featuring dimpled and reinforced lugs for a real bite. The “Sand Snake” is the hill climber in this crowd, with a shoulder-to-shoulder straight blade design. It’s a lightweight, too, greatly reducing unsprung weight. And the list goes on, with the “BlackWidow” for the ultimate in utility traction, the “Fox A/T” that’s especially suited for straight-line stability, the “Zipper” which works in a variety of conditions, and the “DiamondTrak” for the ultimate handling finesse in loose sand. The AMS lineup doesn’t stop there, either. There’s the “AeroSpeed” with tall 1-1/8-inch paddles that really enhance side hill stability, and the “SideWinder” that takes those big paddles and arranges them in an offset V-blade pattern for even more turning control. The “BlackTail” and “WhipSnake” round out this new tire line, featuring mixed-terrain prowess and great flotation, respectively. And don’t forget there’s a pair of AMS tires for two-wheelers, as well. The “Sand Snake” motocross front and motocross rear, as the names imply, are loose-terrain specialists, and just like all those ATV tires they’re a “natural choice.” And what is it—besides all those style choices—that’s making AMS that “natural choice?” It’s the rubber. Every AMS tire is made of natural rubber, unlike the majority of ATV tires on the market that are constructed with a Butyl rubber, or a synthetic blend. According to the tire experts at AMS, natural rubber runs cooler, and while that would be reason enough to make the change, there’s more. Natural rubber also offers better protection from punctures, and in fact will tend to self seal if it’s punctured or cut. That’s a premium feature, and every AMS tire—whether it’s an ultra-light two-ply design that just about floats over loose sand or it’s a rugged six-ply tire able to take on the toughest obstacles—has it. And check out those sidewall logos. Every tire has its own distinctive signature logo to go with the name. It’s molded right in. You’re going to be hearing plenty about AMS, from both your rep and, once the ads and reviews start hitting the magazines, your customers, too.
