ave you seen the Sideshots yet? Just out from Vance & Hines (they were introduced in the closing weeks of ’03), it’s a pretty safe bet that you’ve never laid eyes on pipes like these before, at least not coming straight off the shelf and out of the box. All hard angles and pure attitude, these pipes look like some one-off custom shop creations, hardly what you'd expect from a set of production exhausts ready to bolt onto a Softail. Running big, proud and high on the bike, the Sideshots demand attention. They take a wicked dive down along the side of the machine, too, real custom stuff, and it all ends up with an ultra-aggressive pair of twin slash tips. The Sideshots turn traditional 2-into-2 pipe thinking on its head.

Sideshots also feature the Vance & Hines Power Chamber, giving your customers a real, power-packed 2-into-1 race system.

There’s more than just that custom-shop look working here, too. The Sideshots neatly incorporate the Vance & Hines Power Chamber, that all-but-invisible crossover connection. The result of that is performance you'll feel right in your throttle hand and right in the seat of your pants. The Sideshots kick it hard. That Power Chamber gives these custom-look pipes all the performance advantages of a real, power-packed 2-into-1 race system. Doesn't look it, does it? That was the plan. And on the subject of looks, all of this style and performance is here for the long haul. Beautifully chromed 2.5-inch robotic plasma arc cut full coverage header and muffler heatshields make the Sideshots virtually “blue-proof.” And the extra horsepower and torque produced gives that signature, deep and powerful Vance & Hines hot-rod sound.

Twin slash tips finish the effect.

Designed by Vance & Hines and manufactured right here in the USA, Sideshots include removable baffles for a choice of flow and sound tuning, and of course all the mounting hardware comes packed in the box. In the Vance & Hines tradition, installation is hassle-free every time.
Now, we've said it before but it bears repeating. The installation of an exhaust system like the Sideshots, or any free-flowing custom exhaust for that matter, isn't the end of things—or the end of the sales opportunities. You have to deal with the other side of the equation, too, the fuel delivery. Pulling out more exhaust, which is what the Sideshots do, means that more fuel has to be poured in—otherwise a lean-burn condition is going to happen—and that’s something you want to avoid at all costs. Carbureted motorcycles will require re-jetting, and there are a number of re-mapping kits available to straighten out an EFI system. You'll find it all in the FatBook. And of course you'll find these Vance & Hines Sideshots in there, too, on page 181 of the 2004 FatBook. Take a good look. These are 2-into-2 pipes with a difference, and they’re going to sell.

Custom looks with outstanding performance—that’s what you get with Vance & Hines’ new Sideshots.
