Dynojet’s Power Commander is easier than ever to use-and even better at what it does.

ood news here. The Power Commander III USB is now available for every EFI Harley-Davidson that needs it, and that’s pretty much all of them. Dialing in the perfect air/fuel ratio is critical to crisp, clean performance—on both stock bikes and especially when mechanical changes have been made, like the installation of a free-flowing air filter and exhaust. And that, of course, is where the Power Commander comes in. Always has. For years Power Commanders have allowed riders and tuners to get everything out of an injected Harley that’s there to get, and with the PCIII USB it all just got a lot easier and faster to do. The Power Commander III USB, which connects directly to a laptop’s Universal Serial Bus (USB) port, allows quick, no-hassle mapping/tuning sessions, and that’s just the start of what’s new and better here.
In addition to its USB connection (with all the proper cables included—one set works for the Softails, Dynas and V-Rod, another for Evo EFI and Twin Cam EFI touring models), that all-new Power Commander III USB comes with some pretty interesting, and definitely useful, upgrades. Like a built-in function allowing the ignition timing curve to be adjusted, too, +/- 10 degrees from the stock settings. Like an all-new accelerator pump feature to let you dial in just the right shot of extra fuel for quick throttle action. Like an “Advance Tuning” feature permitting each cylinder to be tuned separately should that be necessary for optimum performance. Like an Expansion Port to make future upgrades and accessories a snap to download, install and run. Bottom line here: Dynojet’s totally revamped the Power Commander, and the PCIII USB for Harleys is easier than ever to use and better than ever at what it does.
The new Power Commander III USB—in bright new packaging, to boot—is available for all ’97-’98 Evo EFI bikes, all ’01-’04 EFI Softails and the ’04 EFI Dynas, the Evo and Twin Cam EFI touring bikes and the V-Rod. Every application features that hassle-free communication link with a computer’s USB port, letting the new Power Commander III USB instantly and automatically connect to the Power Commander Control Center software once it’s installed. “Power up” the unit and plug in the supplied USB cable to the computer and PCIII USB and you’re ready to go. As soon as you connect the PCIII USB to the computer and launch the software, the map installed in the PCIII USB will be displayed, too—it’s automatic now, your installed map is retrieved on connection. The PCIII USB also stores all of your mapping notes in its onboard memory, making it a simple matter to see exactly which map you’ve got loaded and which one you’re working with. Those notes, just like the map itself, are automatically retrieved on connection, too. Want more? The PCIII USB has an enhanced “file compare” utility written into its software, allowing you to compare and contrast two map files, and you can do it without the Power Commander connected. There’s an easier-to-read numerical display, as well and Dynojet’s developed a brand-new graphic display, too.

As upgrades and accessories come on line, the Power Commander will be ready for them.

If all this is beginning to sound like the PCIII USB has been revamped top to bottom to make Power Commander tuning an EFI Harley quicker and easier than ever and have the results perform better than ever, you’re hearing it right. Dynojet’s even made the Power Commander’s “button adjustment” mode easier to use. There’s a “startup delay” function now, giving the user plenty of time to start the bike and switch the PCIII USB into its button-adjust mode. The ranges of the buttons are now displayed right in the software, too, with their adjustment ranges displayed on the screen. Every PCIII USB comes with a 9-volt “power up” adapter now, too, which allows you to interface with the Power Commander and do all your programming right on the desktop without being connected to the bike.
And don’t forget about that “expansion port” now standard in the PCIII USB. Dynojet’s not done here, not by a long shot and not as long as EFI tuning is developing as fast and furious as it is. When upgrades and accessories come on line—as they surely will—the new Power Commander III USB is ready for them. Right now, for example, Dynojet’s in the final stages of tweaking its “Quick Shifter” option for Harley applications, a function offering hands-off full-power shifting for racers and street riders alike. The PCIII USB is fully compatible, ready and waiting and there’s more on the way.

The all-new Power Commander III USB comes with lots of useful upgrades, incluing a built-in function allowing the ignition timing curve to be adjusted.

As always, Dynojet’s busy in the test lab developing, writing and programming specific tuning maps for every conceivable Harley-Davidson application and combination of pipes, pistons and air filters you’re likely to encounter. As always, it’s all available at www.powercommander.com. The big difference now is that with the PC III USB available for Harleys using all those maps, and accessing all those Dynojet features, is easier than ever. Like we said, there’s good news here, and it’s the Power Commander III USB. Drag Specialties has it, and it’s in the warehouse. Give your rep a call.
